  • You will need to bring the vehicle along with paperwork displaying the VIN number such as the vehicle title, previous registration, bill of sale, insurance card, or other official paperwork to the Windsor Police Department. VIN verifications are done on a first-come, first-served basis. Confirm the hours of this service before contacting the department. Town of Windsor residents are provided VIN verification services at no charge. Non-residents will be charged $15, cash or check only. Proof of residency is required.

  • You can contact the Windsor Police Department non-emergency number at 970-674-6400 to report your dog is missing.

    On occasion, Windsor Police Department Community Service Officers and Patrol Officers will pick up dogs found to be roaming without their owner.

    If your pet is picked up by Windsor Police Department and has an identification tag, the officer will attempt to contact you.  If the lost/found dog is not immediately returned to the owner, the dog will be boarded at Larimer County Humane Society.  You can find additional information about lost/found pets on their website.

  • Door-to-door solicitation is permitted within the Town of Windsor.

    If a resident has a "No Soliciting" or "No Trespassing" sign posted at or near the entrance, a salesperson is not permitted to approach the door. Concerns regarding door-to-door solicitation may be considered a criminal trespass offense.  There are "No Soliciting" stickers available at Town Hall or Windsor Police Department.  

    The salesperson must carry the license or a copy of the license on their person when soliciting.

Red-Light Camera Program

  • Step 1: The system triggers when a vehicle is about to enter the intersection when the traffic signal is red. 

    Step 2: The first image shows the vehicle approaching or entering the intersection at a red light. 

    Step 3: The second image shows the vehicle proceeding through or past the intersection at a red light. 

    Step 4: The license plate is taken from one of the plate images captured during the violation.

    Step 5: Data, including the location, date, time, and duration of the yellow and redlights, is stamped on the images. 

    Step 6: A 12-second digital video is taken of the violation, including six seconds prior to and six seconds after running the red light.

  • A Notice of Violation for a red-light violation is issued when a vehicle fails to stop at a clearly marked stop line or at any other stopping point described in the ordinance when facing a steady circular red signal or if the vehicle does not come to a COMPLETE stop before making a right or left turn.

  • The fine amount is $75 for a red-light violation. Failure to respond to a Notice of Violation, failure to appear for a requested hearing, or failure to pay a penalty imposed after a hearing may result in the issuance of a Summons and Complaint with personal service at an additional charge of $18. Once personal service has been made, your appearance in court will be required.

  • ONLINE: The fastest and easiest way to pay is online. Go to www.ViolationInfo.com and log in with your Notice # and PIN, which are located on the front of your Notice. Click the Pay button. A fee may apply for online payments. 

    PHONE: Call (toll-free) 1-866-790-4111 and select option 1. Phone payments are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. A fee may apply. 

    PAYMENT BY MAIL: Mail your check or money order (payable to the Town of Windsor) in the enclosed envelope with the coupon printed at the bottom of the front side of your notice. DO NOT MAIL CASH. Be sure to put the Notice # on the face of your payment. Checks returned due to insufficient funds may result in an additional fee added to the civil penalty due and any fees charged by your banking institution.

  • The registered owner of a vehicle will be mailed the Notice of Violation. You may submit a sworn statement to that effect to rebut the presumption that you were driving the vehicle at the time of the violation. 

    Send the notarized Affidavit of Non-Responsibility (along with all supporting documentation and a copy of your Notice of Violation) back before the due date on the front of this Notice. 

    Please mail to Violation Processing Center, PO Box 22091, Tempe, AZ 85285-2091, email Info@ViolationInfo.com, or fax to 1-480-990- 4819. If an owner furnishes satisfactory evidence pursuant to this paragraph, the Court may terminate the prosecution of this Notice of Violation issued to the owner and, if appropriate, issue a Notice of Violation to the person identified in the evidence as the operator of the motor vehicle at the time of the violation. You will be notified of the outcome by mail. Keep in mind that submitting the Affidavit will NOT automatically result in the closure of this matter. If further information is required, you will be notified.
