WINDSOR, Colo. (January 13, 2026) — Today, January 13, 2026, the red-light cameras at the intersection of 7th Street and Main Street will go live, beginning with a 30-day warning period before a $75 fine is implemented. 

During the warning period, motorists captured by the cameras running a red light will be issued a written warning by mail for the next 30 days. Following the warning period, on February 12, 2026, drivers who enter the intersection after the light has turned red will receive a $75 citation. These citations do not add points to the driver's license. 

Violations will be issued after police personnel confirm a violation has occurred.

WINDSOR, Colo. (Oct. 10, 2025) — Windsor Police Department and the Optimist Club of Windsor are excited to co-host Safe Halloween on October 31. The event will be from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Windsor Community Recreation Center, 250 N. 11th Street.

This is a free, family-friendly event that offers a fun and safe way for children to celebrate Halloween. Attendees are encouraged to come dressed in their favorite costume and enjoy an evening full of candy, games, and festive activities. This event is aimed at children 12 and under, but it is open to all ages who want to join the fun!

WINDSOR, Colo. (Oct. 8, 2025) — The Windsor Police Department will host a National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Windsor Police Department, 960 N 15th Street.

This event provides the community with a safe and responsible way to dispose of unused or expired prescription medication. The goal of drug take back days is to help prevent medication misuse and reduce the risk of drug-related incidents in our homes and communities.

WINDSOR, Colo. (October 1, 2025) — The Town of Windsor is launching a new automated traffic safety program aimed at changing driver behavior and making local streets safer. Beginning this fall, red-light cameras will be installed as part of this new safety initiative.

The program will start with the installation of four cameras covering all directions at the intersection of 7th Street and Main Street. Vehicles that are recorded failing to stop at a red light or making a right turn without coming to a complete stop will receive a citation with a $75 fine.

The Town of Windsor has partnered with Verra Mobility, a leader in traffic safety technology, to administer the program. The cameras will capture images of vehicle license plates and transmit them via secure video. Each potential violation will be reviewed and verified by the Windsor Police Department before a citation is issued.

WINDSOR, Colo. (Aug. 15, 2025) — Detectives with the Windsor Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID) have arrested Isai Abi Dominguez (Date of Birth: 06/07/1999), of Windsor, Colorado, on 34 felony counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor.

The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted in collaboration with the Colorado Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, following information received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). The initial tip from NCMEC involved reports of suspected possession and/or distribution of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) occurring within the jurisdiction of the Windsor Police Department.

Investigators received multiple cyber tips indicating the upload, possession, and/or distribution of child sexually exploitative material across various social media platforms. Through detailed analysis, detectives identified commonalities in the tips that linked the activity to a single individual.

Earlier this year, Windsor detectives executed a search warrant at Dominguez’s residence, resulting in the seizure of several electronic devices. A subsequent forensic analysis uncovered additional CSAM content not previously identified in the original ICAC reports.

On August 13, 2025, an arrest warrant for Dominguez was executed, and he was taken into custody without incident for the following charges:

• 16 counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Child, class 3 Felony
• 18 counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Child, class 4 Felony

All charges are merely an accusation, and defendants are presumed innocent until, and unless, proven guilty.

WINDSOR, Colo. (Aug. 6, 2025) — The Windsor Police Department and Weld RE-4 School District are pleased to announce the appointment of our newest School Resource Officer (SRO), Alicia Tingley.

Officer Tingley has demonstrated her commitment to the Windsor community over the past five years as a member of the Windsor Police Department’s Uniform Patrol Division. Her dedication to public safety and community engagement has made her a valued part of the department, and she is excited to bring that same passion to her new role supporting students, staff, and families within the Weld RE-4 School District.

Tingley will be primarily based at the district’s newest school, Ridgeline Middle School. As an SRO, she will work closely with school administrators to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment, build positive relationships with students, and provide education around safety topics.

WINDSOR, Colo. (May 2,2025) —  Early Friday morning, May 2, the Windsor Police Department responded to a fire at Covenant Park playground (1401 Fernwood Drive).

Detectives conducted a thorough investigation and, while canvassing the area, took a suspect into custody. Joshua Davis, (DOB 03/02/2000), was booked into the Weld County Jail for Second-Degree Arson (CRS 18-4-103), a Class 3 felony.

All charges are merely an accusation, and defendants are presumed innocent until, and unless, proven guilty.

Due to the damage sustained, the playground has been deemed unsafe and will remain closed until further notice. The community is asked to avoid the area to ensure everyone’s safety and allow investigators to continue their work, as the scene remains active.

WINDSOR, Colo. (April 25, 2025)— Three juveniles have been charged with arson in connection with a fire that occurred on March 5, 2025, at Main Park, 301 Locust St. The identity of the individuals will not be released to the public in accordance with juvenile protection laws. 

The charges follow an extensive investigation by the Windsor Police Department Criminal Investigations Division. All three juveniles are facing one count of arson under Colorado Revised Statutes (C.R.S.) 18-4-105(1)(3)(g), a Class 3 felony. Two of the juveniles are also charged with theft under $300, C.R.S. 18-4-401(2)(b), a petty offense.

The case will proceed through the juvenile justice system. While proceedings will remain confidential due to the age of the individuals, the department is committed to pursuing appropriate accountability while respecting all legal protections afforded to minors.

All charges are merely an accusation, and defendants are presumed innocent until, and unless, proven guilty.

Investigators conducted numerous interviews with neighbors in the area and relied heavily on crime scene analysis. Leads from personal surveillance footage—voluntarily provided by community members through the Secure Streets program—also played a key role in identifying the suspects.

The Secure Streets program allows property owners with private security cameras that record public areas—such as streets, sidewalks or parking lots—to voluntarily register their cameras with the Windsor Police Department.

WINDSOR, Colo. (April 23, 2025) — The Windsor Police Department is excited to announce its first-ever Teen Police Academy, a fun, free, weeklong program designed to introduce local high school students to the dynamic world of law enforcement. The academy will run July 21–25, 2025, at the Windsor Police Department, 960 N. 15th St.

The Teen Police Academy offers a rare opportunity for young residents to gain hands-on experience in policing and public safety through a mix of engaging activities, teamwork challenges and behind-the-scenes access. Participants will explore specialized units such as K9, SWAT, crime scene analysis, and more.

Students will take part in interactive demonstrations and team-building projects — all aimed at developing leadership, communication, and critical thinking skills in a supportive and educational environment.

Eligibility requirements:

• Must be a registered student ages 15–18
• Must live in Windsor
• Must pass a criminal background check

The collection site will be located at the Windsor Police Department, 960 N. 15th St., and will operate from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is held in partnership with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and takes place at locations nationwide.

Proper disposal of prescription drugs helps prevent misuse and protects public health. Medications thrown in the trash can be retrieved and abused or illegally sold, making it essential to remove them from homes safely.

WINDSOR, Colo.—The Windsor Police Department is breaking ground on its new state-of-the-art facility this month and are hosting a celebration to mark the occasion.

The event will take place on Friday, Aug. 11 at 10 a.m. at the site of the new facility, 960 N. 15th St., which is directly north of the Windsor Public Services campus. Windsor’s Mayor, Paul Rennemeyer and town leadership will join officers and staff of the department, as well as other dignitaries from the community for the celebration. The event is free and open to members of the public who wish to attend.

“We are very excited and honored to share this moment with the community,” said Acting Chief of Police Aaron Lopez. “This is a project that has been long in the making and will give us new tools and resources to continue our mission of keeping our neighborhoods safe.”

The $30 million project will see the construction of a new headquarters, which will replace the department’s current building, located at 200 N. 11th St., as well as other off-site improvements. The new facility will provide more space for the expanding department and will include multiple training and development spaces, a large multipurpose conference area, and state-of-the-art evidence testing and processing facilities. Construction is expected to take around 18 months.

WINDSOR, Colo. — On July 24, 2023, at approximately 7:35 p.m., the Windsor Police Department responded to a traffic accident in the 1900 block of Blossom Grove Ct.

Upon arrival, first responders found a 2018 Polaris RZR all-terrain vehicle flipped on to its side after attempting to turn around in the cul-de-sac.

Aa 35-year-old male passenger sustained serious injuries, including a severed arm, and was transported to the hospital. A 14-month-old passenger also received minor injuries. 

The driver of the vehicle, Antonio Arellano-Hernandez, 28-years-old, from Northglenn, Colorado, was arrested and charged with Vehicular Assault, 18-3-205 CRS, a class 4 Felony, DUI per se, 42-2-1301(2)(a) CRS, a class 1 Misdemeanor, and Reckless Driving, 42-4-1401(1) CRS, a class 2 Misdemeanor. As with all charges, the suspect is presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty.

Windsor Police continue to investigate the incident. Anyone with information about the traffic accident who has not yet spoken to investigators is asked to contact Officer Joseph Dalrymple at 970-674-6400.

Last night, the Windsor community experienced one of the most challenging public safety events possible – a shooting involving police. Our officers were dispatched to a domestic incident on Sunflower Dr. in which an uncooperative resident with a gun challenged officers and ultimately fired at them with a shotgun. Officers returned fire, striking and killing the suspect, a 39 year old white male.

The 19th Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team (Weld CIRT) is leading the multi-agency investigation into this incident, which remains ongoing. CIRT is called in any time there is an officer-involved shooting incident that results in injury or death. At the conclusion of a CIRT investigation, the findings are reported to the District Attorney.

As the incident unfolded, Windsor Police issued a shelter in place order to residents in the immediate vicinity to prevent safety risk to residents. Residents outside of the threat area may not have received this message. We sincerely thank all members of the community for their ongoing support and cooperation with officers during incidents like these. This collaboration and trust is what makes Windsor the fantastic community it is known to be.

Moments like these are challenging, but the people of Windsor, including the members of the Windsor Police Department are resolute and strong, and we will stand by each other during this time. On Tuesday, June 13, 2023, investigators of the Windsor Police Department were conducting an investigation into alleged child sex crimes in the 200 block of Cherokee Trail Dr. in Ault, Colorado. Officers of both the Windsor and Ault Police Departments were on scene investigating when the suspect fired a single gunshot, fatally injuring himself. Rescue attempts were immediately initiated, but unsuccessful. 

No officers fired shots and the suspect of the investigation was pronounced dead on scene. The suspect is a 33 year-old white male who is not being identified at this time. Identification will be made at a later time by the Weld County Coroner’s Office.

No officers or members of the public, aside from the suspect, were harmed as a result of this incident and there is no safety threat to the public.

The investigation of the death is being led by the Ault Police Department.

No further information is being released at this time.
